Abstract

In August 2000, a group of geophysicists, researchers, engineers, and well services specialists conducted a crosswell seismic surveying experiment that used long horizontal wells in Weyburn Field in Saskatchewan, Canada. Coiled tubing technology facilitated safe deployment of the seismic instruments into the uncased horizontal wells. High-quality borehole seismic data with a rich and complicated wavefield were successfully acquired and preliminary processing yielded a detailed picture of variations in the reservoir.
