Abstract

An observational cohort study using prespecified criteria and methods to emulate the designs of hypothetical target trials has found that among four anticonvulsants used in adults and children, valproate was associated with the highest risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Lamotrigine was associated with the lowest risk of type 2 diabetes among the studied drugs.
