Abstract

The present study is an attempt to closely examine learners’ spoken discourse in their oral presentations and to discover problematic areas of discourse that are common and recurring in their talk. The detailed and close examination of the talk revealed three different areas of tender spots for the learners, which are 1) lack of logical developments of topics, 2) referring expressions, and 3) false starts and repetitions. Knowing what difficulties the language learners frequently encounter in creating cohesive and coherent talk in oral presentations can provide valuable implications in teaching and training spoken discourse skills in language classrooms.
