Abstract

AbstractThe coherent optical control of four‐wave‐mixing (FWM) polaritonic polarization in a heterostructure containing a 25 nm thin active ZnSe layer is studied. For the first‐order direction of diffraction 2k1‐k2 the phase‐locked pulse pair contributes quadratically to the FWM signal, and the separate control of polariton modes is observed. In contrast to that, in the direction 2k2‐k1 the pulse pair contributes linearly to the FWM signal and the polariton modes are simultaneously controlled, only. The coherent control of polaritonic FWM polarization in both diffraction directions can be explained in terms of the two‐polariton coherences and of Pauli blocking.
