Abstract

An infinite crystal containing a single plane of isotopic impurities is considered, and by using the Green's function technique, the amplitudes of sound waves scattered by the plane are calculated in the first Born approximation. The scattered waves are shown to be plane waves reflected and transmitted at well-defined angles. Similarities and differences with the corresponding electromagnetic case are noted and discussed.
