Abstract

This paper presents a Kalman filter-based closed-loop carrier phase tracking algorithm and results of coherent GNSS-R signal from ocean and land surfaces using CYGNSS raw IF measurements. The carrier phase measurement from coherent GNSS-R signal allows centi-meter level carrier phase altimetry. Closed-loop tracking of coherent reflection GNSS-R signal can provide higher resolution and accuracy estimates of signal parameters for other remote sensing applications, e.g., SNR measurements for land surface monitoring, than non-coherent measurements.
