Abstract
We report the ultrafast impulsive excitation of coherent LO phonons with the frequency of 5.57 THz in InSb. These phonons, when generated by femtosecond laser pulses, exhibit phase-dependent fluctuation properties, that is, the variance of coherent amplitude is a function of time delay. The variance oscillations occur, for short time delays, at twice the frequency of the coherent amplitude.
