Abstract

The relaxation dynamics of coherent LO phonons interacting with a photoexcited electronhole plasma is investigated in InP using an infrared time-resolved CARS technique. The plasma is created by two-photon absorption of one of the pulses used in the CARS experiment and measurements are performed as a function of its density. The results are interpreted in terms of coherent decay of the phonon-like LO phonon-plasmon hybrid mode, yielding information on the plasmon relaxation and free electron collision time.
