Abstract

We investigate the spectral-angular distribution of the forward transition radiation from an electron bunch interacting with an acoustic superlattice generated in a finite thickness plate. In the quasiclassical approximation, a formula for the radiation intensity is provided for a general distribution function of electrons in the bunch. We investigate coherence effects in the case of modulated electron distribution. The features of the radiation intensity are described in dependence of the ratio of the acoustic wavelength to the period of the modulation of the bunch. We demonstrate the appearance of the peaks in the radiation intensity for special values of this ratio.
