Abstract
Introduction Corneal diseases are a major cause of visual impairment and blindness in developing countries. It is estimated that a large portion of donor cornea is not eligible for cornea implantation. 20 times from the eyes of donors available now. Experienced nursing students may be expected to contribute to eye care levels. Para-medical education at the beginning of their studies may lead to better rates of donor organs. This study was designed to test students' perceptions of nursing students and their commitment to the eye. Materials and Methods A Cross-sectional study was done on 200 students of LLRM medical college during the month of December 2021 with the help of pretested, semi-structured questionnaire was self-administered for collecting the necessary information after obtaining informed consent. Results Out of 200 students, 110 (55.0%) were males and 90 (45.0%) were females, it was observed that 106 (96.3%) males and out of 90 females, 88 (97.7%) females knew that eyes can be donated after death. 108 (54.0%) of 200 students, were not willing to donate eyes. Internet was the most common source of information on eye donation. Nobility in the act of eye donation was the main motivational force followed by pleasure to help the blind. Conclusion The present study revealed that nursing students were well aware of eye donation but most of them were not inclined to pledge for eye donation.
