Abstract

Abstract Sex therapy in China has developed over the past three years, despite being largely unknown by the public and many clinical practitioners. This paper describes a short-term, comprehensive sex therapy, employing cognitive-behavioural techniques which were used to treat 21 couples with erectile dysfunction, where the remission rate was 61.8%. The authors believe that the technique of couple evaluation proved to be an objective measure of change. There was a close relationship between the outcome of therapy and the following factors: the course of therapy, the wife's attitude to sex, the level of the patients' psychosocial problems, and the state of the marriage itself.
