Abstract

Parenting styles have a significant impact on the formation of a child's mental health. An upbeat parenting style contributes to positive mental health, while a less favorable one may increase the risk of anxiety disorders. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) counseling using Istigfar therapy to reduce anxiety levels. The research design is a quantitative pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving three students selected through purposive sampling criteria of high anxiety and Islamic faith. The research instrument uses an anxiety scale adapted from Holmes's theory (1991) with 33 items and reliability (.874). The results indicate that CBT counseling using Istigfar therapy is effective in reducing anxiety levels due to strict parenting styles (p = .002; p < .05).
