Abstract
The synthesis of iron-cobalt alloyed nanoparticles (3.8 + 0.3 nm) was reported by a wet chemical reduction method with a sulfobetaine surfactant. The surfactant is chemically bound onto the nanoparticle surface to prevent the agglomeration of nanoparticles and to render the nanoparticle soluble in an aqueous copper citrate electrolyte for the fabrication of a Cu shell. The effect of annealing was also examined as a means of decomposing the surfactant to create a carbon shell around the iron-cobalt nanoparticle. Both elemental analysis and magnetic properties were examined.
