Abstract

Fungus ball in sphenoid sinus, together with functioning or nonfunctioning pituitary adenomas, are a rare event. Our case is of an old woman presented with sudden-onset headache. In brain MRI, sellar tumor as well as a noninvasive mass in sphenoid sinus were detected. The patient underwent a transsphenoidal approach for excision of the mass. Pathologic study of the resected tumor confirmed the diagnosis of pituitary adenoma. The histologic finding of sinus lesion was in favor of a noninvasive aspergillosis, with many septated fungal hyphae.
