Abstract

Using a modified form of Wagstaff’s apparatus for measuring the coefficient of viscosity of air by the method of interference fringes and using capillary tubes, the value of η23°c has been found to be (1834·38±0·35)×10−7 c.g.s. units. The value of the electronic charge,e, calculated with this value of η is 4·816×10−10 e.s. units. Both these values are in close agreement with those obtained recently by other workers using different methods.
