Abstract

This study discusses the form of using code switching and code mixing for teenagers. Sociolinguistic study aims to gain knowledge about the form of code switching and code mixing in communication between adolescents and other adolescents. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. Qualitative descriptive method is a method used to obtain clear results that are descriptive in nature, namely, collecting, managing, reducing, analyzing data and presenting them objectively. The data collection method used in this research is the listening method. The technique used in this study is the note-taking technique, which is to record all forms of conversation that are uttered by the teenagers. The results obtained in this study were found in the form of code switching from the Makassar language to Indonesian, and some of the factors behind the occurrence of code switching and code mixing were found, namely because they wanted to adapt to the speech partner, familiarize themselves with the speech partner.
