Abstract

In this article we present the construction of a resistive humidity sensor making use of alternative materials of organic origin and source of renewable, coconut fiber. The hygroscopic film is obtained by deposition of the coconut fiber powder combined with carbon powder (graphite) on a substrate of polyester resin with short coconut fiber. Experimental results indicated that the sensor has characteristics expected from a humidity sensor, with adsorption in the time range of 45 seconds and variation in electrical resistance depending on the amount of water molecules in the air.
