Abstract

AbstractSince 2012, the UNESCO Chair in Community Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education has been engaged in major global research projects designed to provide us with a state-of-the-art of what has been happening in the field of community-based participatory research. This chapter reports on the findings of two surveys used in these studies, which provide a global overview of how higher education institutions and civil society organizations contribute to engaged research processes and knowledge democracy. The chapter ends with thoughts on the implications for the role of community-based knowledge creation.
