Abstract

This presentation for a lay audience first discusses certain rotations applicable to random noise sources in a rectangular enclosure, develops the concepts of masking noise, and the source‐masking noise interaction, and then provides a calculation of the number of people that could be invited to a cocktail party in which comfortable source‐source interactions are required. Finally, via a tape recording of some actual parties, the relations which have been developed are demonstrated.
