The coordination anions of the title compound [Co(C 5 H 5 ) 2 ][Ni(dmit) 2 ] are planar with a shuttleshaped D 2h configuration. The cobaltocenium cations take an eclipsed D 2h conformation with an average Co-C distance of 2.037 (16) A.
