Abstract

Cobalt phthalocyanines (CoPcs) bearing peripherally tetra-substituted flavone (flav) or benzoxazole (bo) moieties were formulated and spectroscopically characterized by UV–Vis and FTIR spectroscopy, ESI-TOF mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis. The redox properties of CoPc-flav (3) and CoPc-bo (4) were investigated via voltammetry and the voltammetric assignments were corroborated by UV–Vis spectroelectrochemistry. Modified working electrodes were prepared by electrodeposition of CoPcs, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) or CoPcs–MWCNTs conjugates. The electrocatalytic activities of the modified working electrodes towards dopamine were explored.
