Abstract

The highly efficient aerobic oxidation of alcohols to carbonyl compounds was achieved catalyzed by cationic meso -tetrakis (1-methyl-4-pyridyl, TM4PyP) metalloporphyrins immobilized in montmorillonite interlayers. Cobalt porphyrin (CoTM4PyP-MT) showed excellent activity and selectivity in the aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol, where 90% yield of benzaldehyde was obtained.
