Abstract

The TE modes are analyzed using the transverse resonance method and the wave propagation in a curved structure. The cutoff frequencies for TE/sub 11/ and TE/sub 31/ modes and the infinite frequency characteristic impedance Z/sub 0 infinity / for TE/sub 11/ mode are obtained. The curves behave similarly to those for a rectangular ridge waveguide. The characteristic impedance is almost half the value for a rectangular ridge waveguide of width pi R. This is due to the doubling of the volume. The bandwidth increases considerably over an unridged coaxial waveguide. >
