Abstract

A coaxial panoramic three-dimensional digital image correlation (3D-DIC) system was developed for full 360o inner surface deformation measurement. The panoramic observation was realized by using a convex mirror. Two cameras were arranged coaxially to ensure the largest overlapping observation area. After the coordinate transformation and correlation calculation, the 3D displacement and strain distributions were reconstructed. The principles of the system were presented in detail, and the internal morphology and deformation of pipes subjected to compression loading were described to verify the effectiveness, practicality, and accuracy of the proposed system.
