Abstract
They would be even more preferred if their temperature (heat) withstanding capacities are enhanced. In some applications like gas turbine engines where the requirements are thermal management, electrical conductivity and erosion withstanding capabilities to name a few, PMC’s are yet to make a mark. In this context, coatings of various kinds and methods are in use. This article focuses on review of literature of such coatings for PMC’s to enhance above mentioned properties by considering few applications. The applications of coatings for polymer composites range from biological applications like antibacterial applications to engineering applications like erosion resistance, wear resistance, thermal spray coatings to mention a few. PMC’s are finding a majority of applications these days due to their unique advantages. Some of the industries using PMC’s extensively are automobile, aerospace and construction industries.
