Abstract

By using Ti/Si/graphite/diamond powders as the raw material, a coating was formed on the surfaces of diamond particles via thermal explosion. The phase composition and microstructure of the coating on the surfaces of the diamond particles were analyzed and observed by using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Results showed that Ti3SiC2 and TiC were the main components of the matrix after thermal explosion. The addition of diamond particles to the raw material had little effect on the phase composition of the matrix. A good coating that was mainly composed of TiC and SiC was obtained on the surfaces of the diamond particles after the reaction.
