Abstract

Several reagents possessing four or eight hydroxy groups at the right end and triethoxysilyl group at the left end were synthesized. After treatment of the reagent with acid at 120˚C for 24 h on the half area of a glass, the debris of non-covalent reagent residue was physically washed off and wiped off. Without moisture, the whole surface of resulting glass was visually transparent and the border line between coated and uncoated area was not visibly recognized. However, when it exposed to steam, the coated area was much less cloudy than uncoated area
