Abstract
Recently, the authors have studied systematically the coarsening of bcc Fe-Co precipitate particles on various [011] twist and [001] symmetric tilt boundaries with misorientation angles {theta} = 10--80{degree} and {theta} = 9--80{degree}, respectively, using bicrystals of a Cu-Fe-Co alloy. The measured activation energy Q of grain-boundary diffusion against misorientation angle curve displays several cusps and the curve is similar to the grain-boundary energy against misorientation curve. For the symmetric tilt boundaries, a good correlation has been also found between the calculated pre-exponential factor D{sub 0} of boundary diffusivity and the boundary energy. In this work, as an extension of these studies, the growth of bcc Fe-Co particles is examined for various [001] twist boundaries in Cu-Fe-Co bicrystals aged between 673 and 723K. In addition, the values of Q and D{sub 0} are evaluated as a function of the misorientation angle.
