Coarctation of the Aorta Associated with Adams–Stokes Syndrome, Complete Heart Block and Bicuspid Calcareous Aortic Valve

Abstract

TO OUR knowledge coarctation of the aorta in association with complete heart block and Adams–Stokes syndrome has not previously been reported. The patient in the case reported below was first observed while having attacks of Adams–Stokes syndrome. Examination revealed signs characteristic of coarctation of the aorta. Varying degrees of heart block were manifest and subsequently became complete. Post-mortem examination showed, in addition to coarctation, a calcified bicuspid aortic valve.
