Abstract

In this paper, a new method based on time series analysis is presented to solve the problem of coal-rock interface recognition in the top caving process. Coal or waste rock impinges against the tail beams of the hydraulic support. The impact causes the vibration of the tail beams. Because of different Characteristics, dissimilarities will exist between the both cases. Vibration models are identified using time series analysis in both conditions. And then the power spectrums are obtained according to the models. The Coal-rock interface is recognized by comparing the power spectrums. Results show that the proposed method can be applied.
