Abstract

Abstract Substitution of Mn at B site is observed to improve the magneto mechanical coupling of the CoFe2O4. Further (Co Mg) Fe2O4 is known to posse's very high value of electrical resistivity ρ and magnetostriction. Therefore Co0.7Mg0.3Fe2−xMnxO4 (CFMO) has been selected as a magnetic phase to form magnetoelectric (ME) composites. Further Sr0.5Ba0.5Nb2O6 (SBN) has observed to be a lead free relaxor possessing both piezoelectric and electrostrictive properties and has formed the piezoelectric phase of the ME composites. The paper presents investigations on the ME composites for their (a) structural, (b) morphological, (c) magnetic, (d) dielectric and (e) magnetoelectric properties. The results are discussed in the light of applicability of the materials.
