Abstract
The infrared spectra of complexes of the type MX 2AcAc(OR) 2, where M = Nb(V), Ta(V); X = Cl, Br; AcAc = acetylacetone; R = CH 3, C 2H 5; NbOCl 3 and NbOCl 2AcAc have been examined in the region 450-200 cm −1. Metal—chloride vibrational frequencies have been observed in the chloro derivatives, the absorption occurring between 340-270 cm −1 and 312-270 cm −1 for niobium and tantalum derivatives, respectively, in MCl 2AcAc(OR) 2 series. Niobium—chloride bond frequencies in oxo-dichloro-acetylacetonato derivative appear at 379 and 355 cm −1, the spectrum indicating chloride and oxygen bridges.
