Abstract

The paper describes the results of a 2-year study of electrical and electronic engineering education, carried out jointly by a major electronics company and a university school of electrical and electronic engineering. A new philosophy of engineering education has emerged which, if adopted, will allow the specific needs of industry for qualified and competent engineers to be met, while at the same time providing a wider and more complete education for the student.
