Abstract

A novel inorganic-organic hybrid material constituted of Cobalt(II) and 2-Amino-perimidinium ion with the structural formula (C17H22N3)2[CoCl4] has been described. Furthermore, single-crystal X-ray diffraction and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy methods are used to characterize this compound. The cobalt complex crystallizes in a triclinic system with the P-1 space group, according to single-crystal X-ray diffraction experiments. In order to learn more about the complex, the structural arrangements and the hydrogen bonding interactions between molecule is examined. The catalytic performance of this hybrid material was examined in the dimerization of several aroyl chlorides to form corresponding benzil derivatives. This compound, to our delight, showed extraordinary activity, with high conversion in almost all instances when THF was used as a solvent. The findings of stoichiometric reactions and the experimental data both give evidence that cumulatively supports a plausible mechanism for the reaction.
