Abstract

We have successfully fabricated straight carbon nanofibers containing coiled carbon nanofibers by ethanol catalytic combustion technique. In our experiment, copper plate was employed as substrate, transition metal salt solution as catalyst precursor, and ethanol as carbon source. The morphology and microstructure of the obtained carbon nanostructures have been investigated and their growth mechanism has been discussed.
