Abstract

Deep endometriosis causes severe dysmenorrhea and chronic pelvic pain. Deep endometriosis and peritoneal endometriosis are considered to have different histopathogenesis. Previously, we have reported that NKp46 expression, an active receptor for NK cells in ascites, is reduced in women with pelvic endometriosis. So, in this study, we aimed to investigate the differences in NK cell associations between deep endometriosis and peritoneal endometriosis, and the correlation between the degree of dysmenorrhea as a symptom of deep endometriosis and the expression of NK cell surface markers or intracellular cytokine production.
