A. Abstract We report the detection of CO(J = 3-2) and CO(J = 4-3) emission observed toward the QSO 0528 - 250 at a redshift corresponding to the z = 2.14 damped Lyα absorption system previously identified in the optical spectrum of the object. The CO emission lines extend over 1100 km s^-1^ and show evidence for kinematic substructure of 100-150 km s^-1^. The total CO luminosity exceeds 2 x 10^8^ L_sun_, and the mass of molecular gas inferred under the assumption that the density, excitation temperature, and heavy-element depletion are similar to Galactic GMCs is approximately 7 x 10^11^ M_sun_.
