Abstract

Oxygen evolution reaction (OER) sets the huge obstacle for water electrolysis application, and the low-cost catalysts with small overpotential and fast kinetics are highly needed. Herein, cobalt-doped Ni3S2 nanosheets constructed flower-like architecture is grown on nickel foam (Co-Ni3S2/NF) toward OER application. It is found that, heteroatom doping induces positive effects for OER, including the modulated electronic structure, more active sites, and accelerated charge transfer. Nanosheets structure assures exposed active sites and shortened charge transfer path. Benefited from the aforementioned advantages, the as-prepared sample exhibits impressive catalysis performances, such as ultralow overpotential of 160 mV at current density of 10 mA cm−2, small Tafel slope of 49 mV dec−1, and high stability, which behaves as the promising catalyst for OER.
