The data are consistent with the majority of giants following a bimodal distribution of CN strengths, with the CN-strong giants exhibiting weaker CH bands than the CN-weak giants of comparable magnitude. However, two stars in the present sample appear to be CH stars, one of which was discovered previously by Zinn. Consequently, M2 provides the only known example of a cluster in which both bimodal CN distributions and CH stars exist.
