Abstract
Elaborating a complete treatment for back pain, from the segmental point of view, requires considering the treatment from four different situations: local, regional, axial and distal. Axial treatment, performed on the middle posterior part of the back, has two forms: one relating altered structures—vertebral axial—and one over the their innervations—segmental axial—. Vertebral axial treatment is carried out following two criteria: identifying both the altered structure and the vertebral level of the said alteration. It is indicated in mechanical and degenerative vertebral processes. Segmental axial treatment is carried out following the innervation of the structure that is meant to be treated. It is indicated in muscular, bone and visceral problems. In order to perform these treatments, Du Mai points, Huatuojiaji points and feature points are used. It is interesting to remember the distribution of the preganglionic sympathetic chain at a paravertebral level in order to perform segemental treatments at an autonomic level. The goal is impacting on the neuromodulation of pain at the suggested levels.
