Abstract
The clustering instability in granular matter manifests in many physical situations. Here we present an analysis of a set of adiabatic pistons that separate different granular gases. It is shown, by means of a linear stability analysis, that the symmetric state is unstable against small perturbations, leading to a collapse of all the pistons to the outer walls.
