Abstract

AbstractTwo types of magnesium oxide clusters, (MgO) and (MgO)nMg+ have been obtained by the bombardment of magnesium with a mixture of xenon and oxygen ions. Enhanced ion intensity in the cluster mass spectra was observed at certain n values. The correlation between the geometrical structures of the clusters and their abundances is discussed.
