Clough Memorial Research Fund and Clough Medal. Awards of the Clough Memorial Research Fund and Clough Medal

Abstract

Instituted to commemorate the distinguished services to geological science of the late Dr C. T. Clough, the above Fund will be utilised to encourage geological research in Scotland and the North of England. The North of England for this purpose is defined as comprising the counties of Northumberland, Durham, Cumberland, Westmoreland, and Yorkshire. Under the terms of administration of the Fund a sum of approximately £30 is available annually. Applicants should state ( a ) the nature of the proposed research; ( b ) the amount of grant desired; ( c ) the scientific purpose for which the grant will be used, e.g. , travelling expenses, maintenance in the field, excavation of critical sections, etc.; ( d ) whether any other grant-in-aid has been obtained or applied for. Applications should be sent to the Secretary, Edinburgh Geological Society, Synod Hall, Castle Terrace, Edinburgh, not later than 1st February in each year. The Clough Medal is awarded biennially or triennally in recognition of original work of outstanding importance concerning the geology of Scotland or the North of England. I.
