Abstract

The Cloud of Things (CoT), which relates to the convergence between cloud computing (CC) and the Internet of Things (IoT), has significantly transformed the way services are delivered in the ubiquitous realm of devices. This integration has become essential, as the significant amount of data that is generated needs the CC as an infrastructure for processing and storage. IoT allows number of devices, peoples, and services to connect with others and exchange information. IoT networks are vulnerable to multiple security breaches because of the growing usage of IoT devices. Cloud computing presents an additional level of risk, as essential services are very often outsourced to a third party, making it harder to preserve data security and privacy, support data availability as well as services availability, and ensure adherence. Security issues in the CoT remain more critical since users and IoT devices continue to share computing as well as networking resources remotely. Therefore, the CoT is continuously increasing security and privacy issues. In this chapter we have presented the benefits as well as the challenges advanced by the integration of cloud and IoT technologies. There is also some discussion of the security challenges that arise along with the existing mitigation schemes.
