Abstract

The cloud computing and its associated challenges, building a secured electronic health record (EHR) in a cloud computing environment, have attracted a lot of attention in healthcare industry including researchers and academic community. The cloud computing paradigm offers eHealth systems the opportunity to enhance the features and functionality. The patient's medical information to the cloud implies several risks in terms of the security and privacy of sensitive health records. A literature review of EHR issues is presented in this paper with emphasis on the importance of the concepts involved, implementations and challenges. To protect the confidentiality of patient information and facilitate the process, some suggestions for healthcare providers are made.
