Abstract
The authors note that the data in the Strain Wedge Model (SWM) used by the discussers to validate the p-y curve development and pile head response for the 0.6-m diameter CISS pile uses different load cycles. Each load cycle is comprised of different load strengths and stiffnesses (Ashford and Rollins 1999). In addition, the authors have discovered that the discussers used the wrong soil profile for two of the three soils under analysis. This and other errors found by the authors have caused them to question the validity of the SWM the discussers used to analyze pile performance in liquefied soil.
