Abstract

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has affected access to tuberculosis diagnostics, resulting in an 18% drop in the reported number of tuberculosis cases to 5·8 million in 2020 (from 7·1 million in 2019). All member states of WHO and the UN have committed to ending the tuberculosis epidemic by adopting the UN Sustainable Development Goals and WHO's End TB Strategy.1
