Abstract

Closed-form expressions of the physical optics (PO) field scattered in the far zone by finite cylindrical perfectly conducting shells with a conical-section profile are developed in terms of incomplete cylindrical functions (ICFs). The proposed representations are very efficient from a computational point of view and constitute a useful modelling tool in the prediction of the radar cross section (RCS) of complex curved objects. In order to check the correctness of these scattered field solutions, preliminary comparisons with accurate completely numerical PO calculations are presented. (5 pages)
