Abstract

In this paper, a new method is proposed for estimating the frequency of a complex sinusoidal signal in multiplicative and additive noise. The proposed method is based on the linear prediction property of the signals’ autocorrelation function. This frequency estimation method is a closed-form algorithm which can directly estimate the frequency without peak searching. The performance of the proposed frequency estimator is investigated by computer simulations. Simulation results demonstrate that the performance of the proposed technique is reasonable and is close to Cramer–Rao bound.
