Abstract

A close coupling calculation based on expanding the wave functions in terms of atomic orbitals on the two collision centers is used to study the ionization and electron capture processes for p + Mg(2p) collisions. The alignment parameter of the resulting 2p hole is also calculated for the electron capture and the ionization processes. The results are compared with the experimental measurement and with the perturbation calculations.
